How we’re ethical

OUR VOICE OVER TALENT HAVE OPTED IN, ARE PROTECTED AND PAID FOR THEIR WORK

We’ve developed some simple guidelines to ensure the protection and fair treatment of our human voice-over (HVO) talent.

Permission given
We’ve worked with many of our voice over talent for years, and have built strong relationships with them. All our voice over artists who have made their voices models available to use via ethical AI have opted in and agreed to take part.
Paid for their work
We pay all voice over talent for every read created using ethical AI. Our talent can see all scripts generated using their AI voice models, and we pay them within a few days of receiving their monthly invoice.
Private & secure
All AI voice models have been created and funded by Abe’s Audio, and are only available for our team to use when working on your project. (They are not available to the direct public.) This ensures we can control how and where their voices are used, and protect the privacy of our talent
Protected
To protect the integrity of our talent, we don’t allow specific categories to be created using AI voices. These ‘off-limits’ categories are:
- Finance
- Religion
- Adult entertainment
- Politics
- Impersonation of minority groups

WHERE YOU SHOULD (AND SHOULDN’T) USE AI VOICE OVERS

AI is developing rapidly. What we all thought impossible only 12 months ago is now possible - and improving every day. Where AI voice overs once sounded stilted and robotic, they can now be more natural and authentic.

But as good as the technology is, getting the right delivery from an AI voice over isn’t as simple as copying text and generating the exact read you’re looking for within a few seconds. Our team has spent hundreds of hours working with human voice over talent and various AI tools, and we know the technology's advantages and limitations.

Ethical AI voices are ideal for client pitches, guide voice overs, eLearning content, and some lower-budget commercials. However, we recommend against using them for most final edits, briefs with detailed creative direction, or projects with difficult pronunciations.

Because each AI voice is professionally modelled on an actual recording of human talent (we’ve spent hours in the studio with our voices), there are some limitations with regards to the range, style and delivery that can be produced. Each ethical AI demo is a good example of what you can expect from that talent.
